Team RJC Rides Again!!
- Details
On Saturday, August 28th, Team RJC joined riders across British Columbia and Alberta to raise funds to breakdown cancer. For over a decade Team RJC has rode in cancer rides across Canada, raising $1,852,000 for cancer foundations.
Next year we plan to break the $2,000,000 to support cancer research. We’ve already registered a team and are starting to fundraise https://bit.ly/3t06fHn
For 2021, riders could choose their distance and ride their own route or one of the suggested routes. Team RJC rode in the British Columbia Tour de Cure and the Tour Alberta for Cancer. In BC, Team RJC cycled in Abbotsford, Vancouver, and the Tri-Cities area, and in Alberta in St. Albert. Team RJC consisted of 23 determined individuals, including Ron Steers, who at age 82, rode solo through St. Albert in support of cancer research. Together, Team RJC raised $103,501.66 this year.
With over 3,000 participants in BC, it was an exciting new format for the ride, with cyclists crossing paths with other riders throughout the day. Our Tri-Cities riders created their own cycling tour riding through eight cities and stopping to take photos at various landmarks, including with a statue of Terry Fox. One rider commented “I would have paid to take that tour – absolutely fantastic!”
Team RJC members Roger Steers and Darla Steers commemorated the ride by changing into different RJC jerseys every 20km, displaying some of the most significant Team RJC rides. Their jerseys included RJC’s 10-year anniversary jersey and the golden bike jersey – a jersey that features a golden bike to recognize our team raising over $1,000,000 for cancer research.
Congratulations and thank you to all of our 2021 Team RJC members, and to everyone who participated in this year’s rides.
