RJC Engineers Donates to Hurricane Fiona Relief
- Details
RJC Engineers donated $10,000 to the Canadian Red Cross’ Hurricane Fiona in Canada Appeal. The Government of Canada will match donations made to the Hurricane Fiona in Canada Appeal by Canadians and corporations up to October 23, 2022.
“Supporting Canadians and the local communities where we live and work is paramount to RJC. Many of our clients and colleagues have been affected by the hurricane, or have loved ones who have been impacted. We’re glad to be able to support local relief efforts through the Canadian Red Cross,” state RJC Executive Principals Joette Decore, Mike Moffatt, and Roger Steers.
On September 24 and 25, 2022, Hurricane Fiona swept through Atlantic Canada and part of Quebec, causing heavy rain and high winds. The hurricane had a damaging impact, leading to flooding, road washouts, downed trees, utility outages, and damage to coastal infrastructure. This widespread damage is having a devastating impact on many businesses and Canadians residing in these areas.
RJC’s Stratford, PEI office was without power for a week, operating with a generator.
“Hurricane Fiona had a direct impact on everyone living in Atlantic Canada. The destruction to homes, property, and landscape is difficult to comprehend” shares Tanya Kennedy Flood, who works in RJC’s Stratford, PEI office. “The Atlantic Canadian provinces are working with the Red Cross to help support people who have been impacted by this devastating hurricane. Many people remain without access to power or running water.”
Funds raised will enable the Red Cross to carry out relief, recovery, resiliency and risk reduction activities in and beyond the impacted region at the individual and community levels. The Canadian Red Cross is working to get help to people in and around affected areas as quickly as possible and provide humanitarian assistance for new needs as they arise.
