Yorkdale Shopping Centre East Expansion
The $220M East Expansion to the Yorkdale Shopping Centre added an additional 145,000 sq. ft. and 40 new stores.
RJC provided structural engineering consulting services for this retail expansion which included a two-storey steel superstructure and a five-level cast-in-place concrete underground parking structure.
The design included a column-free loading dock with 100 feet long steel trusses supporting the superstructure above.
RJC also provided design services for various feature elements, including a segmented-curved “sail wall” consisting of structural glass and architecturally-exposed steel tubes, and a cable-stayed structural glass wall with custom stainless steel fittings.
