Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital is Canada’s first hospital to fully integrate smart technology, allowing seamless communication between systems and medical devices to enhance information exchange, optimize workflows, reduce operational costs, and improve patient outcomes.

RJC Engineers provided structural and building envelope services as part of the Planning, Design, and Compliance team, leveraging extensive experience with healthcare facilities and Infrastructure Ontario’s Alternative Financing and Procurement (AFP) models.

As a key part of a major regional health network, the hospital offers specialized services, including Integrated Stroke, Pediatrics, Mental Health, and Obstetrics programs, along with essential services like emergency and critical care.

The 11-storey, 1.2 million-square-foot facility has an initial capacity of 350 beds, with room for expansion to over 500.

In line with its commitment to sustainability, Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital incorporates several eco-friendly features, such as energy-efficient systems, water conservation measures, green roofs, and construction waste diversion.

The facility is LEED Silver certified, and has also received the Award of Merit at the 2022 Vaughan Urban Design Awards.
