The Advanced Rate Isotope Laboratory (ARIEL) at the University of British Columbia (UBC) is TRIUMF’s flagship multi-disciplinary research facility.

This 41,000 sq. ft. building is one component in a suite of new facilities for a new beam line project, designed to fit into UBC’s tight and complex TRIUMF site.

RJC consulted on a set of exterior assemblies tying into existing buildings and designed to allow for flexibility for future expansion options.

A large focus of our work was on the below-grade waterproofing, as most of the laboratory building is below-ground to provide shielding for the active beam lines.
