IKEA Richmond
RJC’s scope encompassed the structural design of the new store, as well as, a 100-foot tall structure to support the store’s iconic signage.
Site condition challenges were present from the start of the project as it was determined to have Site Class F seismic characteristics.
RJC was able to provide an economical and lightweight structure that could withstand the seismic loads imposed on the structure.
Thanks to a successful collaboration between the design team and the contractor, the job ended up being fast-tracked during construction and opened two months ahead of schedule.
