As a part of the renovation to the Christ Church Cathedral, one of Vancouver’s oldest stone structures, RJC provided structural engineering for the final phase of the seismic upgrade program undertaken for the iconic church located in downtown Vancouver.

In this phase, the roof diaphragm was upgraded and connections to previously installed concrete shear walls were completed.

In addition to the seismic upgrade, a new 100 ft. bell tower was added.

RJC was involved in all aspects of the structural design of this tower including bell support and special studies to ensure vibration induced by the swinging bells did not adversely affect the lightweight steel tower.
