YYC Calgary International Airport - Elevated Departures Level Roadway
The Elevated Departures Level roadway structure was extended almost 200m to accommodate a major expansion of the adjacent seven level parking structure, with interconnecting vehicle and pedestrian bridge links.
This extension is designed to carry CL625 highway loading and was designed to accommodate future expansion of the airport terminal building and parkade.
The challenge of accommodating traffic during construction at one of the fastest growing airports in the country was significant.
The elevated structure is located directly above the Arrivals level roadway and was constructed in three stages with temporary detour roadway configurations.
Temporary occupancy of airside property was used to construct a portion of the detour roadways.
