Victoria Floating Seaplane Terminal
The new terminal for Harbour Air and Kenmore Air, in the Victoria Inner Harbour, floats above the harbour and is covered by a distinctively waved green roof.
The signature curved roof is constructed of steel columns, curved glulam beams, and tongue and groove wood decking.
Ensuring that columns and walls were built plumb was difficult as the barge was designed to adjust to level as the structure was completed.
Extremely large versions of a carpenters square were built on site to ensure everything was built normal to the surface of the barge.
Constructed in Bamberton, the $4M barge and structure were brought to the inner harbour by tug boat where final construction was completed for its opening day April 1, 2016.
