performed an investigation of the building exterior of Athabasca Hall at the University of Alberta main campus in December of 2001.The purpose of the investigation was to review and comment on the general condition of the building exterior and to provide recommendations for repair and/or maintenance with particular attention directed towards restorative repairs required to preserve this historic building.In February of 2003, RJC began the restoration program based on the information that was gathered as part of the building envelope investigation.It was determine that the following work would be completed in 2003 as part of this contract: ?Re-point or repair damaged brick and joints.?Selective repairs to damaged stone.?

Remove all caulking materials from brick and stone.

Total cleaning of the brick and stone.Repair of fire escape stairs and anchors.Re-build parapet including replacement of the stone parapets with precast concrete and extending the membrane over the parapet.Examine existing stone capping in the more ornate areas (such as the east entrance parapet) to determine where these can be repaired for re-use.

Remove and replace caulking materials between window frame and brick/stone cladding.
