Terry Bergen
CTech, CCCA, LEED® AP, FCSC | Managing Principal
Terry leads RJC's Building Science and Restoration Team and Indigenous Projects group on Vancouver Island. His experience encompasses the whole spectrum of RJC's building science and structural practices. His team focuses on reducing the built environment's operational and embodied carbon.
Terry is passionate about the sustainability and resiliency of our built environment, and he works collaboratively with clients and contractors to achieve environmentally responsible and economically viable solutions. Working with industry, academic, and policy stakeholders, Terry also leads RJC's Building Performance practice. He strives to help integrate structural, façade, enclosure, mechanical, and electrical designs to optimize energy efficiency, thermal comfort, and durability while minimizing the greenhouse gas intensity of projects.
Terry joined RJC after graduating from Thompson Rivers University (formerly the University College of the Cariboo). He gives back to the community and encourages the same from his colleagues. Terry is passionate about engaging Indigenous community members in engineering and architecture via initiatives like the ḴEL,ḴELOŦEN ȻE S,ISTEW̱ award. He also regularly participates and fundraises for the BC Cancer Foundation, Our Place Society, and the Cridge Centre for the Family initiatives. He is also active in many local, provincial, and national industry committees.
