Every year, students have an opportunity to showcase their skills by submitting a project to the Andy Kesteloo Memorial Project Award through Canada Green Building Council. Presented in memory of a visionary green building advocate, the award goes to a student project that demonstrates leadership, innovation, and a creative vision for the future of sustainable design in the field of green building and communities.
The 2023 award went to a student team led by Danielle Arciaga from Simon Fraser University (SFU who is a Building Performance Engineer with RJC Engineers, for an ambitious project: the decarbonization of the Discovery 1 Building at SFU’s Burnaby campus. Danielle’s group members included Gurvaani Dhani, Manin Khunger, Simran Pandher, and Clara Park.

Team RJC completed the Tour de Cure this past weekend in British Columbia. It was RJC’s third ride this year in support of cancer foundations, having also completed the Princess Margaret Ride to Conquer Cancer in Ontario and the Enbridge Tour Alberta for Cancer ride in Alberta.
This is the 37th time Team RJC has been a part of cycling events in support of cancer foundations across Canada. Collectively, RJC has raised $2.18M for cancer foundations across Canada.

The ḴELOŦEN ȻE S,ISTEW̱ Fund Award for 2023 has been awarded to three recipients: Elijah Patrick, a second year Civil Engineering student at the University of British Columbia Okanagan; Connie Davis, a PhD student in Civil Engineering at the University of British Columbia; and Stacie Coutlee, a PhD student in Civil Engineering at the University of British Columbia.
Established in June 2021 by AME Group, Gwaii Engineering, Diamond Schmitt, Number TEN Architectural Group, AES Engineering, RJC Engineers, and the Victoria Native Friendship Centre; the ḴEL,ḴELOŦEN ȻE S,ISTEW̱ Fund aims to bring more Indigenous voices into architecture and building design, imbuing these industries with Indigenous values, perspectives and ways of knowing, being and doing.
